"Tools make the Man"

I’ve spent the last couple weeks moving the sprite rendering out of the project directly and turning it into an asset.

There are a couple prescient reasons for doing this, the primary one being that I would like to reuse the product myself, which mandates it to be isolated from the rest of the product. Secondly, I wanted to work on improvements to it in a vacuum, so I could treat it as a lib, atomic from the originating product.

Check out DIRSPR for more info on the library

Lastly, there was a number of interested parties who wanted access to a system like this, where there wasnt any existing options on the market currently. So, product, meet market fit.

Orn itself has been moved out of the prototyping project, hopefully away from the massive kitbashed project that it is, and into its new permanent home project where I’ll be developing additional features as libs as much as possible. This is normal development practice in other fields, and unreal supports this really well via its migration tools, so it should provide a better development process moving forward.

I have also moved to Project Borealis for my base movement class. Source-like movement is a favorite of mine, and should provide for solid extensible movement mechanics moving forward.

Thats all!
